We disagree with the resolution that NCAA athletes should be paid. We think this because right when when the athletes graduate, they will move on to the NBA and be paid more than before. In college, basketball is a hobby, not a job and if you are really passionate about it, you don't care about the money, you only care about the sport. The main reason NCAA athlete are shown on TV is to show of their skill and for the NBA to draft them into teams. If you are in division one, you are most likely to be drafted into the NBA and earn more money. Getting a basketball scholarship is almost like being paid for what you do but it goes to your education. You will get to have a great education and play what you love.

We think that the NCAA should not get paid because some of there schools can not affford paying the players. Also they wanted to sign up for basketball because they wantd to play not just because they wanted to get paid. Also because it is a job not a specific job where you can get paid.Players gets good education.

We think that the NCAA athletes should be payed beacause the NCAA makes more than 6 billion a year. Also the scholarships do not cover the full cost of collage. College atheletes have their names and images used for merchandise that makes a lot of money, yet they are not compensated. Also what  happens to players that get injured like Kevin Ware !

We were not in complete agreement but we decided, the NCAA athletes should be paid because if a player gets injured playing a game they could use a portion of the 6 billion dollers they make a year. Some of the college athletes get their name used in merchandise and do not even see a single doller.

Also the NCAA should cover their injuries while playing for their team.    We think that NCAA players should not be paid, because they might not use the money in the correct forms. If players get injured then the money should be used to cover insurance. If they chose the sport they want it becuase it's their hobbie and sports shouldn't be played for the money. The money should be used for equipment, transportation to away games, and uniforms. Also, most schools can't pay the players so it wouldn't be fair to those who got paid.

We do not believe India should become a central government. There would be a power vacuum. There wouldn't be any civil war. Muslims would be free and have a say in their country (Pakistan).

We believe that India should be united when it gets independence from Great Britain. It's silly to separate into Pakistan and India. We believe this because all religions can be included, heard, and accepted in the Central Government of India. Hindus and Muslims can live together in India. Just because we have different beliefs doesn't mean we can't live together. In fact, we can work together to fight in wars and communism. One team, one sound, India will rise as one!!!

 My team belives India should be seperate because the Muslim voices would be heard they will be allowed to show their religious symbols.  They will not have to do what the British belive is right and if Britian will like to add any new laws there could be an easier agreement. The muslim does not have to do anything aainst their religion.

In Latin America mines have many diamonds just like India, and that is the same reason for why Europeans wanted both Latin America and India. The story of India is connected to the other colonies that were colonized by British . After India was colonized by the British they made English the official langage. They were also a lot of christianiy when British came to Inida. The also taxed.

India's story with colonization is very similar to the story of the Dominican Republic and Haiti. One similarity is that the Europeans (Spanish, Hispanola and British, India) took all the resources for themselves and didn't share. Also, the social classes were similar. The Dominican's classes were Europeans first and natives last like in India.

The story of India is similar to Hispaniola for many reasons like how their colonizers took their resources, people and also how many people were made to convert into Christianity and many indegionous people rebelled against the mother country.First in Hispaniola many of the Taino Indians were forced to mine copper, gold and plant sugar canes like the Indians who planted tea and mine diamonds and copper.

How is the story of  India connected to another country or civilization we've learned about this year ?

India conntects to Latin America because both of them have have a system and social classes that the richer people get government jobs and better paying. And the lower classes have very dirty jobs. Also India was conolized by the British and Latin America was colonized by the British and the Spanish . Both India and Latin America had great resources that the Spanish and the British wanted.

The values shown by the 8th grade speech showed that his favorite sport motivated him to keep working very hard at school. Also Angel compared his work in school to his hard work he showed in baseball.Angel's values compare to our blogging groups values because we have motavation like baseball or other sports and that is we do our best in school.

  The value that was shared in community circle was that sports like baseball motivated the speaker about how he can push himself in school. It helped him academicly by him knowing that he has to persevere through 2 things, and balence them both out and he makes sure that he has time to do both things. The eighth grader, Angle Mojica, discussed with us that he vaules baseball because when he works hard on it, he strives to work very hard on other topics besides baseball like his academics in school. Three of our Mob members value soccer because they belive it's a safe and fun sport to play almost anywhere. They also have had a delightful past identical to Angle. Our last member of our Mob values music because she can express herself in a beautiful way and there is always a song to match her situation and mood. In conclusion,the Mob and Angle have values that they are passionate about and still want to embrace.

What values were shared in the 8th grade speech on Tuseday in Community Circle?
How do these values compare with your blogging groups valus? 

Our 8th grader Angel shared that he loved to play baseball and that baseball motivates
him to do better in school. This compares with our group because every week
in community circle when we learn a new current event or problem in the United States
that topic mototvaties US to do better in helping this problem.

He connected baseball to his school life. The speech Angle shared with us was about how he kept on going with his school work. This connects to our blogging group values because we could express our knowledge and opinions on topics occurring in the world and in our school.

Values that the 8th grader talked about is how baseball motivated him in life and school. The speech  taught us how anything can be accomplished if you work hard.

Historians

The people, leaders, and government is much more important because without this the history will be disorganized and chaotic. We support that the geography is important to the history but not as impotant as the people that create the country. For example the United States' history is made up of the people.

A country's geography isn't the single most important influence on its history- more than its people, leaders, culture, government, etc. We think this because history has a influence on the land, meaning that if any violence occurs on that land the landforms may change. History is what happened in that place. We can relate this to Social Studies class, for example in Ethiopia there were many mountains and there were'nt that many people that lived there.

We all disagree becuase the culture does tell you more about the peoples life and will give you more understanding about their country. Also a example is the Holocaust becuse the history was about the people that suffered from getting hurt and getting killed. Our group thinks the geography of a country is not the single most important influence on its history.  One thing that could be a powerful influence are the leaders because they change the way people think of a country and its people. For example,  Raphael Trujillo changed the way people thought of the Dominican Republic and its people. Also, people can change the way a country acts.

We agree that a country's geography is the single most important influence on it's history because a geography can tell us what had happen over time to the country. For example, yesterday in social studies we saw geography map of Africa and we saw some of Africa's places were taking over by some other country.

NO VIOLENCE FROM GUERILLAS!

We dont think the guerillas in Colombia are justified in using violence. We believe this because we think that they should use peaceful protests instead of violence, robberies and kidnapping. Colombia's church is very important, but the guerillas are doing the opposite of what the church wants. VIOLENCE IS NEVER EVER THE SOLUTION! Instead of making Colombia a better country, they are making it worse. This is terrifying the lives in Colombia because wealthy people are being abused, killed, and kidnapped. This war is causing drug exports like cocaine which is a drug made in Colombia to raise money.

Yes, the Guerrillas should use violence beacause they need to protect their land. Also they need to protect the Colombian citizens. They also want to help poor people in Colombia. Lastly they want the poor people to have a better life from what the rich and the powerful people did to them.

We think that the guerrillas in Columbia are not justified for using brutal violence. They cannot just kill because they need money for their families. They must disband and help rebuild the government so that the state can regain peace and equality. They must put down their weapons to have this happen, and to fight they must be less brutal to the rich and the poor because if you fight brutally you will turn on the people you fight for by accident.

We think that Colombian guerrilla groups shouldn't use violence to achieve their goals because it's hypocritical to teach kids in school not to use violence and to solve problems no matter how big they are, while they use violence to solve government problems. When solving a problem or a concern guerrillas should have a meeting or make a treaty, so that they can come to a peace agreement. Guerrillas hould also should try not to create violence because of drugs.This connects to class because in 5th grade when we talked about Martin Luther King Jr. He didn't take others lives and solved his problems by having meetings and making speeches.

The guerrillas are justified to use violence because more people take them serious and pay attention to them. First if the guerillas were to protest peacefully like MLK it people wouldn`t take them seriously since there demands will never happen and will take a long time to happen like MLK`s demand of equal rights for African Americans. Second the guerillas would be taken more seriously since most of the rich people would be on the look out and the poor people wouldn`t want to be in their way since they would be killed or hurt. Also if they were to be peaceful some of the people would be annoyed since they like how the government is already. Third the guerillas are more likely to get their demands faster since most people are afraid of them and wouldm`t to to get killed or hurt.

The guerrillas want to protest for the poor's rights. The poors thought this is an okay way because the guerilla are helping them.The guerrillas did this because they want to overthrow the gov't so they can have equal rights.Only violence can provoke the gov't bcause the poors and the guerrillas don't have a say in the gov't. Are Colombian guerilla groups justified in using violence to achieve their goals? No, because instend of using violence to achieve their goals they used drugs. Also because people are getting kidnapped and killed everyday and thats not fair to their rights. Lastly the guerilla groups should not be justified because some groups are stealing oil pipe lines and taking people out of jail when they don't need to be taking out. In conclusion Colombian guerilla groups should NOT be justified in using violence to achieve their goals.

People should be allowed to kill the wolves to protect themselves if they are not in Yellowstone National Park. If they are inside the park people should not kill wolves because they are in thier natural habbitat and they are near instinction.  If rancher's land or animals are being eaten farmers should move animals such as cattle to another side of their land, if the crops are being eaten they should put boundaries such as barbed wire fences near or over thier crops.If this dosen't work people should put wolves under captivity to save the wolves and  the farmer's animals and crops.

  We are against people being able to kill wolves outside of Yellowstone National Park. First of all the wolves shouldnt be able to get killed because since they have almost gone extinct in the early 1900s so it woudnt make sense to let it happen again. Second of all the people should use tranquilizer darts instead of metal bullets since it would make the wolves drowsy and wouldnt hurt them and while the wolves are asleep the human can take the wolf back to Yellowstone or wherever it came from.

Wolf Heros

Humans have dealt with this problem before, so there isn't a reason why they can't deal with it now. Farmers can make fences taller. Us as people, can save other animals such as deer so the wolves can not eat the farmers livestock.We can't blame the wolves becausse they are just following their natural instincts.So our final answer to this nature problem is to protect the wolves!

Our idea to save the wolves from extinction is to make an eletric fence (about 4 feet high) surrounding 1/3 of the park where wolves can live. They will get a small shock that will indicate that they cannot leave. Then when the population gets too big a season will be picked to regulate the population. These ideas will save ranchers money and time.

The humans should not kill the wolves because they have the rights to live. The humans can build fences if they were attack by wolves. The hunters can't kills wolves because the wolves are still at extinct. The wolves have the rights to be protected.

 People should not kill wovles becuase if it were you , you  would not  want to be killed or hunted.They are not hurting  any one in your family. They are just eating your crops. Also the wolves do not know what they doing to the farmers crops.

People must be 25 years or older to own a  handgun.Before owning a gun you must have a background  check.Use the gun for self defense.

The US Congress should restrict the sale of guns by making background checks all the time and limiting the amount of guns each person could have or purchase.  No one should be able to buy assault guns, they should only be able to have hand guns.  Hunting guns should only be allowed in rural areas, such as woods, forest, etc, but not in houses.  There should be background checks everywhere you may purchase a gun.  Guns shouldn't be sold in other public stores such as Walmart etc, they should only be sold in gun stores and people should be trained before they use them.

The US Congress should pass legislation restrict the sale of guns. Are values are less deaths , less guns,ow capacity magizines and less damage. First, Congress should because more back round checks will lead to less criminals with guns to create havok and banning high capacity maginzines over 10 rounds. Thank you.

Only some gun laws should be passed because it would affect average gun owners in their lives.
Some laws that should be passed are mandatory backround checks. Also there should be restictions on big guns.

Assault Weapons

Assualt weapons are allowed to be purchased for hunting and self defense according to the 2nd Amendment. In gun shows, guns can be bought without a backround check. This can cause criminals to buy guns without the seller knowing he is a criminals. They can missuse these guns in shootings.

It is in the Constitution it is the second Amendment in the United States if it is canceled it will cause harm to others and there will be more shootings. It is not like they want to hurt people they just have problems.Lastly some people just start shooting and the person does not think before they do something.

We are split into two groups.Two people in our group think no because kids need fun.Also because video games are fake  but if you think they are real you might start doing these in real life.The other group thinks yes because your parents might think you are mature but the games influence  who you are.

In America video games rated M help kids with eye hand coordination. But in the other hand it creates violence in the human mind. Eye hand coordination helps in the future to become a doctor. These video games create violence like the shooting in Connecticut.

M for mature video games should not be bannned to people younger than the age of 17. There are many reasons why it is good for kids. One good thing about about these games are that kids develop great hand to eye coordination. This gives them more skill.

 Hello, we are the mob and against the resolution of video games being banned to children under 17. Our values are to make ''friends'', great eye hand coordination and vocabulary. First if you play video games online you play against people all over the world and can meet some nice people which you can then send a friend request and play with them on that game. Second, recent research shows that people who play rated M for mature video games have better hand eye coordination then people who are studying to be a surgeon which can make their future bright and be a future doctor or surgeon.
